Holding on to His promises

My heart has been very heavy for the families
from our agency who were supposed to travel
on May 21 and now can't because of the swine flu.
So, I will pray.
Also I am in another group for older child adoptions
and one of the families is still waiting for LOA and
they only have 7 wks until their daughter will turn
14 and age out and no longer be eligible for adoption.
To my prayer warrior friends please keep these families
in your prayers.
Yesterday I realized how sad and discouraged I had gotten
after trying to find out more info on the swine flu. Separating
rumors from truth is hard, and now realizing how long it could
take just to get our RA.
Then I remembered a while back I was becoming so
discouraged with my fingerprints for the adoption always coming
back unreadable, we even had to do an FBI name clearance.
That was only supposed to take ten days instead it took a month.
I cried out to the Lord wanting to know if  we were in His will.
The next morning I opened up my Devotional Bible right to
Waiting for God
Genesis 16:1-16 and 18:1-15
 This is the first paragraph
"Hope deferred makes the heart sick," says Proverbs 13:12
Believing that God will do what He says is quite different from
waiting for Him to do it. Waiting is hard, but believing while
waiting is harder still. Then it goes into the story of Sarah and
Hagar and Abraham. How Sarah took matters into her own
hands and the consequences of it.

Is anything too hard for the Lord? I will return to you at the appointed
time next year and Sarah will have a son.
Genesis 18:14 (verse for the day)

I know with adoption once we do the paper chase we have no control
over any of it. God has His timetable in mind and I am learning it isn't
always what mine is. We have to put our trust totally in the Lord.
Trust in the Lord with all your heart lean not on your own understanding.
Proverbs 3:5
The same morning I found a post it note with this verse
I had written down on it weeks earlier.
"But these things I plan won't happen right away.
Slowly, steadily, surely, the time approaches when
the vision will be fulfilled. If it seems slow, be patient!
For it will surely take place. It will not be late by a single day."
Habakkuk 2:3 NLT
This is from my Jesus Calling Devotions;

I am with you and for you. When you decide on a course of action
that is in line with My will, nothing in heaven or on earth can stop
you. You may encounter many obstacles as you move toward your
goal, but don't be discouraged..... never give up! With My help, you
can overcome any obstacle. Do not expect an easy path as you
journey hand in hand with Me, but do remember that I, your
very-present Helper, am omnipotent.

Much, much stress results from your wanting to make things
happen before their times have come. One of the main ways
I assert My sovereignty is in the timing of events. If you want
to stay close to Me and do things My way, ask Me to show you
the path forward moment by moment. Instead of dashing headlong
toward your goal, let Me set the pace. Slow down and enjoy the
journey in My Presence.
Romans 8:31, Psalm 46:1-3, Luke 1:37 (NKJV)
A sweet friend told me at the time to savor the journey. (Thanks Sheri)!

You will keep him in perfect peace, Whose mind is stayed on you,
Because he trusts in you.
Isaiah 26:3
I know as I go through this waiting He is teaching, stretching and
molding my character to be more like His. I truly desire for His light
to shine through all the cracks. My greatest desire is to always be in
His will.

The one who calls you is faithful and He will do it.
I Thessalonians 5:24

  6. I'm only a month late after your posting, so I'm doing good ;-)

I love the verses you've chosen Kath. I love how the Lord talks to you and how you listen to Him. Thank you for letting yourself be used by God: "The joy of the Lord is your strength" Neh 8:10
